Ziagen may cause allergic reactions in some patients. This drug contains Abacavir. Your doctor may also recommend you to undergo blood tests before starting this medicine. Main symptoms of allergic reaction include dizziness, fever, itching, rash and swelling. The recommended initial dosage for an adult patient is 600 mg daily. This may be administered in two doses of 300 mg each or 600 mg once a day. The drug may be taken in combination with other antiretroviral agents. Consult your doctor for appropriate dosage for paediatric patients. Your doctor may adjust the dosage if you suffer from hepatic impairment. Ziagen drug should be stored at a controlled room temperature between 20 degree and 25 degree Celsius.
