Covid-19 Service Update

At North Drugstore, the health and safety of our customers and staff is our highest priority. Due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic affecting us all, there have been some changes within our industry in general, and in our company specifically, that we want to make our customers aware of.

Call Center

Our current call center hours of operation are 6AM – 9PM every day, seven days per week. If you are experiencing increased hold times or are calling outside of these hours, please leave us a message or send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Due to increased demand on telephone networks worldwide, you may experience some intermittent connection problems. If this happens our agents will call you back.

We are currently seeing delays in our regular shipping times. Our normal shipping time averages 1 - 2 weeks. Shipments may now take an additional 2 – 4 weeks or more to arrive, depending on the source country of your order.

Please note that these times are averages and individual shipping times will vary. We highly recommend that you place your order at least 2 – 4 weeks or more ahead of your normal reorder time to avoid running out of your medication.

These are industry-wide delays and are mainly occurring due to disruptions in local postal delivery in the countries where our customers live. They are temporary, and we thank the shipping and delivery personnel who are working hard for all of us during this global crisis.

Please Note: As these types of shipping delays are not within our direct control, we are temporarily adjusting our regular Shipping Guarantee from 30 days to 60 days. We will provide updates as the situation changes.

Our Commitment

If you have any questions about any changes in our service please do not hesitate to contact us. Our staff are working tirelessly to ensure the timely fulfillment and delivery of all orders. The health of our customers and staff is our highest priority and we remain committed to providing service at the highest level.

We thank you for your support in these challenging times.

Full information about Atopica

General Information On Atopica

Atopica is indicated for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in dogs. A common skin condition, atopic dermatitis is triggered by allergens like pollens or house dust mites. The active component in Atopica is Cyclosporine, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Cyclosporine (generic name of Atopica) works by inhibiting the action of certain chemicals which causes the pet’s immune system to produce an exaggerated response when exposed to allergens. This, in turn, decreases the itching and inflammation that occurs due to allergic reactions.

Atopica, besides containing Cyclosporine, also contains the following inactive ingredients: iron oxide black, tocopherol, carminic acid, and titanium dioxide.

Atopica is meant for oral administration only. As it is a prescription drug, you should buy Atopica only if your veterinarian prescribes it for your pet.

Side effects of Atopica

Atopica is contraindicated in pets with a known hypersensitivity to Cyclosporine or any other ingredient present in the formulation. If you are administering the drug to your pet for the first time, watch out for any signs that may indicate the occurrence of hypersensitivity. Common symptoms associated with hypersensitivity include: skin irritation, skin rashes, and difficulty swallowing. You should consult your veterinarian immediately if your pet has any of the aforementioned symptoms.

The most common side effect of this drug is gastrointestinal disturbances like upset stomach, diarrhea, soft feces, or vomiting. Usually, these side effects are mild in intensity and occur only during the first few days of treatment while the pet’s body is still getting used to the drug. In case these side effects persist for a long time or become severe, you must consult your veterinarian.

Apart from these, the other side effects of Atopica may include the following: mild gingival hyperplasia, muscle weakness, anorexia, or muscle cramps.

The safety and effectiveness of Atopica in pregnant and lactating female dogs has not been studied. You should consult your veterinarian before administering the drug to a pregnant or lactating bitch.

Atopica may affect the levels of insulin in the pet. Due to this, the administration of Cyclosporine in dogs suffering from diabetes mellitus or dogs who are at increased risk to diabetes mellitus should only be considered if the expected benefits are greater than any potential risk to the dog.

This drug may reduce the effectiveness of vaccinations. Do not vaccinate your pet during treatment with Atopica or for 2 weeks before and after the treatment.

Dosage of Atopica

The oral tablets are available in the following strengths: Atopica 10 mg, Atopica 25 mg, Atopica 50 mg, and Atopica 100 mg. The daily dosage is calculated on the basis of the dog’s weight. The daily dosage is administered until a satisfactory improvement is not recorded. In case no improvement is observed within 8 weeks, discontinue the treatment.

You should wash your hands before and after administering the drug to your pet. Atopica is not meant for human use. Store the drug at room temperature in a safe place and away from children.
