General Information on Retin A Micro
Retin A Micro is a topical gel that is applied on the skin. The generic name of Retin A Micro is tretinoin topical. This skin care product is actually a synthetic form of vitamin A, which allows the skin to renew itself.
Retin A Micro is prescribed for the treatment of acne and for the reduction of wrinkles or mottled skin discoloration. This skin care product is also used for making rough facial skin smooth.
Retin A Micro may be used for treating certain other skin conditions not mentioned above, but only if it is has been specifically prescribed by a doctor after a complete medical evaluation.
Side effects of Retin A Micro
Retin A Micro increases your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. You must avoid getting overexposed to natural UV rays (from sunlight) or artificial UV rays (from tanning beds and sunlamps). If you are going out, you must wear effective sunscreen with a minimum rating of SPF 15. You must also wear proper clothing for protection from the sun’s UV rays.
Retin A Micro can cause side effects if it comes into contact with your lips, nose, mouth or eyes. This product is not indicated for application in such area. If the above areas do come into contact with Retin A Micro, you must wash them thoroughly with water to remove all traces of the gel.
Retin A Micro can also be dangerous when it is applied on open wounds or areas with eczema. You must wait for wounds to get healed completely before you begin applying this product. If Retin A Micro is being used as acne medication, you may need to wait for a few weeks before you see any tangible results. Nevertheless, you must let your doctor know if you do not see improvements in your acne or skin condition even after 8-12 weeks have passed since you started applying Retin A Micro.
Dosage of Retin A Micro
Retin A Micro is available in the form of 0.1 % and 0.04 % tube and pump. This product is recommended to be applied once a day, preferably in the evening. If Retin A Micro is being used for treating acne, you must follow your doctor’s instructions for the dose. The gel should be applied directly onto the area where the lesions appear.
When you are applying Retin A Micro on the skin surface, you must apply only enough gel to form a thin coating over the complete affected area. If you apply a large amount of Retin A Micro, it would result in ‘caking’, which reduces the efficacy of the product.
When you apply Retin A Micro on the skin, you may experience a slight warmth or stinging sensation for a short period of time. If you find such sensations intolerable, you may need to temporarily stop using Retin A Micro. You can start using the product again and gradually increase the application frequency as your skin begins to tolerate Retin A Micro better.
Interactions
Retin A Micro is known to interact with some topical creams and ointments to cause unwanted, and often unpleasant side effects. You must tell your doctor about any skin care products or medicines you are using before you start applying Retin A Micro.
